Saturday is our day to do nothing, read the paper, maybe go to the store, and watch football; no stock market, no exercise, no social life. Once a year, the first Saturday of November, we volunteer to hand out water, at the Angle Stop, for the Vulcan 10k Run. For the past three years we’ve braved the cold morning and met with friends, many of which we only see once a year and hand the runners water and Power Aid, not Gator Aid, Coke dropped us.
| From Retirement Fun |
Today was our day, neither one of us wanted to get up at 5:30, on our day off from retirement, to get ready and appear at 7:00 AM to set up our 4 mile station in 36 degree weather, that’s cold for us southerners, but we did. What a fun time, a good group to work with and the appreciation of the 3,000 runners. Having run 4 half marathons I’ve experience the other side of the handoff and appreciated what the volunteers do; it was a rewarding morning. I’ll watch football this afternoon
Thanks Jim and Teresa for inviting us.
