Five Questions for Life Review

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

These are some good questions to ask yourself if you’re considering writing a Life Review.  I’ve also included my answers.

1.  What was the best thing that ever happened to you?  The worst?

The best thing was probably that Nita fell in love with me, without her control and questioning I can only imagine what would have happened to me.

The worst thing is easy, because of my insecure childhood I have always tested the people around me and it’s continually got me into trouble.

2.  What was the best period of your life? The worst?

Right now, I get to do what I want to do every day.  I try new things, I push myself and most important I enjoy myself.

The worst was when my mom died.

3.  If you were asked by a child about the most important thing you have learned in life, what would it be?

The most important  thing that I learned is that knowledge makes anything possible and persistence will make it happen.

4.  If you could change one decision in life, what would it

be?

I think I made a decision at anearly age that I could make it on my physical strengths and chose not to focus on my studies.  I really didn’t focus on learning until I was forced to in college.

5.  What do you need to finish your life? Can you do it from where you are right now?

To finish my life I need to stay healthy, once I loose my health I want to die a semi-violent death, and I want my last words to be ”Oh Shit”.

A Message from Google

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

If you were to search BestofUS or SmartestofUS on Google you would find a message similar to this.

Find the Best
Doctors, Best Dentists, Best Lawyers, Best Financial

This site may harm your computer.
BestofUs.com is the most complete
listing of the best doctors, best dentists, lawyers, best financial advisors,
veterinarian, best accountants,

This is what happens when your website is infected with malicious malware.  So how do you keep this from happening?

Your WebMaster is knowledgeable and regularly updates your Source Code to fend off  such attacks.  My WebMaster SunTecIndia didn’t install any such software and thus the Google message:  This site may damage your computer.

You can imagine what this does to any site traffic.

The end of BestofUS and SmartestofUS

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

I have shut down BestofUS and SmartestofUS, they both contain malicious malware that could harm visitors websites.  I have asked SunTecIndia (through their representative Murli Pawar), the builders and maintainers of both websites to address the problem and they are either unable or unwilling to correct the problem.

My relationship with SunTecIndia and Murli dates back four years when they initially built BestofUS, I chose to use them based on the price of their work, about a third of what the quotes that I received from firms in the US.  I did experience functionality problems at times but they were always able to fix the problems in the past.  Over the years I made design changes and again they made the changes at what I felt was bargain prices.  They also built SmartestofUS for me, again at what appeared to be a bargain price.

BestofUS was my attempt to help the US consumer determine who are the best professional service providers in the United States (doctors, lawyers, dentists, financial advisors, etc).  BestofUS stemmed from Nita and my experience over 15 years and 18 doctors misdiagnosing our daughter foot problems resulting in the amputation of her foot to avoid the spread of cancer.  SmartestofUS was my attempt to promote and recigonize intelligence by administering a free IQ Test.

Now the the

sites have become dangerous to the Internet and there is no exchange of money involved SunTecIndia has fallen inept.  For over a month Murli has said they are working on the problem but nothing materializes.  In the meantime my cash flow has stopped my sites reputations have been destroyed.

I feel as if I am a restaurant and my food supplier is sending me poisoned food, I have no choice, I must close my doors.

Training for the Senior Olympics

Monday, April 11th, 2011

June 20 I’ll fly to Houston to represent Alabama in the Senior Olympics.  I’ll be running the 100 and 200 meter dashes.  The qualifications were held in June of 2010 so I’ve been working to keep in shape and improve my times.  I’ve been doing weight training twice a week, spinning twice a week, Yoga once a week and wind sprints twice a week.  My challenge is to get my 66 year old body comfortable running as fast as it can while avoiding injury.

My training program to date has got me past the “avoid injury” stage and now I have to achieve a level of comfort such that my body is OK with the all out sprint and my times are improving.  I qualified with a time of 15 seconds in the 100 meter from a stand up start and having done little pre-race training.  To win the event in Houston in my age group, 65 to 69, I’ll have to do the 100 in about 13.4 or better.

I’ve purchased a set of starting blocks, thus far they are scary.  It’s been a long time since I crouched down in a tight ball and attempted to launch my body forward, the natural tendency is to land on my face on the track.  The starting block are going to take some work but if I master them it could reasonably cut a half second off my time.  That being achieved I’ll only need to cut my running time by 2 seconds, not a small order over a 100 meter span.  If I could drop 10 to 15 pounds that would help, but that’s not likely.

I’ve been working in spinning class on channeling all my energy into my legs and allowing my upper body to relax as my legs increase in speed.  I’ve also recognized that on a bike the natural way to ride a bike is to push down with one foot while the other leg relaxes on the upstroke but if you can attach your feet to the pedals and pull up with that relaxing leg your leg speed improves dramatically.  I’m working on transferring this to my running stride; that is consciously activating all the muscles in my legs to push down and forward and pull up and forward to gain faster leg speed.  In my first attempts I could see a difference which eventually resulted in a slight groin pull, not a good thing but evidence that I am getting more muscles involved which should result in more speed.

I’ve got about 73 days to put this all together.  Although winning would be great my primary motivation is to participate

in the Olympics.  It’s on my Bucket List.

Volunteering at Indy Grand Prix of Alabama

Sunday, April 10th, 2011
I just finished my second year of sixteen hours of volunteer work at the Barber Motorsports Park for the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama.  Having grown up in Indianapolis and being a dedicated Indy Racing fan I jumped at the opportunity to volunteer at the Motersports Park and then was thrilled to find that as a Paddock Marshal I, and the fans, had a level of access to the drivers and cars that I had not experienced in my years of attending races in Indianapolis.
I’ve watched over the past two decades as NASCAR has replaced Indy as the motor sport of choice in the US and I puzzled as to why; over the past two days I’ve come to a better understanding as to why.
The IRL is selling competitive racing which is important but what the fans that I saw want are personalities; people that they can identify with, people  that they can touch and be touched by.  I watched drivers like Ryan Brisco, Will Power, Tony Kanaan and Danica Patrick willingly, when asked give autographs and pose for pictures.  But that was all they gave, no smile, no kind words, none of themselves.
I had been following Tony Kanaan’s difficulties in finding a sponsor and was delighted to find that he would be driving for KV Racing sponsored by Geico, my insurance company, here in Birmingham.   Saturday morning Tony pulled up on a scooter and I assisted him by clearing the fans so that he could get it parked.
“Tony, I’m glad to see that you got a ride.”  From Tone, not even a grunt, not a smile, tight faced he dropped his head and buy cheap viagra scurried into his team trailer.  Tony passed on a brief opportunity to gain a fan, someone who might with pride continue to support his sponsor.  Instead I asked myself. “Why’d they choose to support Tony, Warren Buffet’s smarter then that?”
Later in the day my duties of fan control put me in front of Patrick Dempsey’s autograph table.  Patrick approached the table, he stooped and spoke to who I believe is the head of Indy Security, as he broke off his conversation recognizing what I was there to do, he acknowledged me.
“Thanks, having a good day?”   Patrick gained a fan, he spent the next hour signing autographs, jumping up off his seat to pose for pictures and exchanging kind words.  Patrick built his fan base and the fan base for the Dempsey Racing today.
Indy’s strongest ambassadors are Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixson and Dario Franchitti.  They are always smiling they will always engage in conversation, they always have time for their fans.  While I was on Patrick Dempsey crowd control duty the Indy cars were qualifying, after Patrick finished his autograph session I was sent back to the Indy area of the Paddock and I found myself in front of the Go Daddy trailer.
Danica exited the trailer, she looked like she had been sucking lemons for the past ten minuets, she walked to the front of her garage area signed five autographs and disappeared.  The comments from the parents of the children who were getting autographs summed up the experience; ”She’s angry she didn’t qualify well.”  Then muttered, “She gave autographs because that’s what she was told to do.”
The IRL needs to teach their drivers how to market themselves and the importance of marketing themselves.
Diver’s need to understand that their future depends on two things: 1. Winning races and 2. Building a loyal fan base.  You can survive not achieving number one but you’ll die without number two.  Dale Earnhardt Jr. is proof that a popular driver can survive without wins,  Tony Kanaan, and Dan Weldon are recent victims of a weak fan base.

Best of US and Smartest of US Status

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

BestofUS and SmartestofUS are now accessible but not functional.  I have been communicating with SunTecIndia, the people who built and maintain all my sites but they have yet to get the sites functioning so that searches can be done on BestofUS or take the IQ test on SmartestofUS.

I am finding that SunTecIndia has a lot of interest in me as a client when they are building the sites and getting paid for their work but cialis online canadian pharmacy once the money flow stops their willingness to address my problems and my business vanishes.

As I wait for them to respond my cash flow stops; site visitors have a negative experience and thus will probably not return in the future.  In hindsight I now see that SunTec India works at bargain prices but the bargain price turns into a enormous expense when I can’t bet my site up and running.

BestofUS and SmartestofUS have been Attacked

Friday, April 1st, 2011

BestofUS and SmartestofUS have been attacked by cyber-hackers. Both sites are displaying an “Infected Messages” or are leading you to a Russian website. I have been working on eliminating the attack for the past month with

mixed results. My web master SunTecIndia has told me that the will correct the problem and install software to see to it the the problem does not reoccur.

I will keep you informed on our progress.
